Max Bayes walked for Charity. The walk was to launch the 2013 Festival to support the RMBI and took place from Good Friday 6 April 2007 to Easter Monday 9 April 2007 inclusive, walking from Stamford to Brackley. As a Lodge Waynflete sponsored Max to walk the distance (just short of 80 miles).

Waynflete Lodge organised a reception to coincide with the completion of the walk which took place at Brackley Town Hall and Market Place at 1pm on Easter Monday 9th of April. WBro Rush organised the reception and took part in the walk.

Stamford to Brackley Charity Walk – Route Notes

DAY ONE ~ Friday 6th April 2007 ~ Stamford to Corby ~ 18 miles

Section 1 ~ 5 Miles

8.30 am Start: Stamford Masonic Centre

• Stamford Masonic Centre – Turn left out of car park

• Left at traffic lights

• Mini roundabout – Right

• Into and through Tinwell

• Into Ketton, quarry on your right

• Pass Northwich Arms on your right

• Pass Library of your left

• Left to Collyweston at the Crossroads into Church Road

• Past the Railway Pub on your left

• Take right hand turn into Barrowden Road to Tixover

• Section ends at sharp left hand bend in road.

Section 2 ~ 5 Miles

11.00 am Start: At the sharp left hand bend

• Follow track straight in front of you,

follow track in straight line along the edge of the wood

and back onto a paved track (approx 1 mile)

• Cross over main road at staggered crossroads towards Barrowden/Wakerley

• Into Barrowden

• Left onto Wakerley Road to Wakerley

• Cross over bridge in Wakerley

• T-Junction – Turn Right to Harringworth, and follow road out of Wakerley

• Section ends at the Harringworth sign when entering the Village

Section 3 ~ 8 Miles

2.00 pm Start: At the Harringworth sign when entering the Village

• Follow road straight through to Gretton

• Pass under the Welland Viaduct

• Into Gretton, follow road round to right to Rockingham

• Follow road down hill and under bridge at the bottom

• Junction – Left onto A6003

• Past the Sondes Pub on the right

• Up the long hill out of Rockingham-castle on right

• Roundabout - left to Corby A6116

• Roundabout – Straight over by Jet Service Station

• Roundabout – Straight over

• Roundabout Straight over and past rugby ground on your right

• Roundabout- Straight on, past Raven Hotel on your right

• Roundabout – Straight over

• Section ends at the Corby Masonic Centre on the right

DAY TWO~ Saturday 7th April 2007 ~ Corby to Walgrave ~ 17 miles

Section 4 ~ 7 Miles

8.30 am Start: Corby Masonic Centre

• Right out of Masonic Centre

• Mini Roundabout- Straight over

• Big Roundabout – Straight over

• Mini Roundabout – right by Village Dental Surgery

• Turn Left, the Bus Station will be on your right

• End of the road, turn right along main road, and follow road under railway bridge

• Roundabout – bear left – KFC on your left (A6014 to Kettering)

• Roundabout – Straight over

• Roundabout – Straight over – Morrisons on the left

• Roundabout – Left toward Oakley – Lavin Road

• Mini Roundabout – Right

• Left in Brooke Road, the sign will be behind you as you enter the road

• Follow road toward Geddington

• Turn right toward Newton/Geddington

• T-Junction – left to Geddington

• Section ends in Geddington at the junction with the A43

Section 5 ~ 5 Miles

11.00 am Start: in Geddington at Crossroads with A43

• From Geddington, at crossroads turn right onto the A43 to Kettering

• Roundabout – Straight on to Weekly & Kettering

• Through Weekly

• Enter Kettering

• Roundabout – Right to town centre

• Past Volvo Garage on right

• Traffic lights- straight on

• Turn left along Silver Street

• Past Police Station on Right

• Left into St Peters Avenue, Left into York Road

• Section ends at Kettering Masonic Centre

Section 6 ~ 5 Miles

2,00 pm Start: Kettering to Walgrave

• Back onto St Peters Avenue,

with the Corn Hall at the end of the street, Turn Left

• Traffic Lights – right to the station

• Follow road to the right

• Left at nest traffic lights, signposted ‘All Routes’

• Down the hill and under railway bridge

• Roundabout – Straight over to A43

• Big Roundabout – cross A14 and onto A43

• Continue on A43 up hill past the scrap yard on the right

• Section ends at junction for Walgrave.

DAY THREE ~ Sunday 8th April 2007 ~ Walgrave to Milton Malsor ~ 16 miles

Section 7 ~ 6 Miles

8.30 am Start: A43 Walgrave junction

• A 43 turn right to Walgrave

• Into and through Walgrave to Holcote

• Into Holcote, follow main street to Moulton

• Keep following road from Holcote to Moulton

• Enter Moulton – Mini Roundabout – Straight on

• T-Junction right into Church Street

• Section ends Outside Moulton Church

Section 8 ~ 5 Miles

11.00 am Start: Moulton to Northampton Masonic Centre

• From Church Street

• Bear right past Cardigan Arms

• Mini Roundabout – Straight on to Northampton

• Mini Roundabout – Straight on

• Into Northampton

• T-Junction – Turn Left into Boughton Lane

• Lumbertubs Roundabout – Turn right

• Follow road into Northampton town centre

• When the White Elephant Pub is on your right,

cut across the racecourse to Northampton Masonic Hall

Section 9 ~ 5 Miles

• 2.00 pm Start: Northampton Masonic Centre to Milton Malsor

• Turn right out of the Masonic Hall down St. Georges Avenue

• Turn left on Harborough Road

• Gasworks roundabout – 2 exit to A43 Oxford

• Past B & Q on the left

• Roundabout – straight over

• Roundabout – straight over

• Roundabout – straight over

• Up the hill

• Roundabout – through underpass towards Hunsbury

• Follow road down the hill towards Blisworth

• Mini Roundabout – Straight on to Milton Malsor

• Section ends at Crossroads – Right to Gayton

Stamford to Brackley Charity Walk – Route Notes

DAY FOUR ~ Monday 9th April 2007 ~ Milton Malsor to Brackley ~ 19 miles

Section 10 ~ 6 Miles

• 8.00 am Start: Milton Malsor to Towcester Masonic Centre

• Milton Malsor crossroads – Right to Gayton

• T-Junction – Turn left and over bridge

• The road will go round to the right;

follow the single-track road straight on.

The Marina is on your left. Over 2 canal bridges.

Over the Railway bridge

• T-Junction – right to Gayton

• Crossroads – straight over to Tiffield. Follow road into Tiffield

• Past the George Pub on your right

• Turn right into Caldecotte, where High Street North and South meet

• Follow road straight to Towcester

• You will see Brickyard Farm on your right, turn left onto the Bridleway

across the field towards the white signs and hedges, approx 150m

• Cross A43 through gap in barriers and through gate on other side

• Follow path up the hill on to main road

• Turn right towards Towcester centre

• Mini Roundabout – straight over

• Keep following path straight down.

• Turn right into car park opposite disused Garage in Towcester Masonic Centre.

Section 11 ~ 5 Miles

• 11.00 am Start: Towcester Masonic Centre to Wappenham Church

• Turn right out of Masonic Hall Centre car park

• Traffic Lights – Straight on

• Follow road out of Towcester

• Roundabout – Straight over

• A43 Roundabout – Straight on to Abthorpe

• Follow road to Abthorpe

• Go straight through Abthorpe and to Wappenham

• Section ends outside Wappenham Church

Section 12 ~ 8 Miles

• 2.00 pm Start: Wappenham Church to Brackley Town Hall

• From Church bear left to Helmdon/Brackley

• Enter Helmdon, and go through Village to Radstone/Brackley

• Past school on left and up the hill

• Crossroads – Straight over to Radstone/Brackley

• Follow road to Brackley

• Enter Brackley

• T-Junction – right to Brackley

• Take next right hand turn

• T-Junction – right

• Follow main road in town centre and Town Hall

Finish Town Hall, Brackley
