| Fundraising and Care |
| Freemasonry is about giving not taking, about sharing and caring. Freemasons consider it a privilege to be able to assist one another or members of the community. Since its first meetings in 1922 the Lodge has supported a variety of charities and taken part in local civic matters. The Lodge minutes show a continual interest in the well being of the Lodge Brethren, their dependents and local residents in need. Local institutions such as the Cottage Hospital have been supported over many years. Charity funds collected are allocated by the Master of the Lodge and are usually divided between contributions to Masonic & local Charities and good causes. Masonic charity funds are used to support members and their families. It provides assistance in the social context, educational, medical and accommodation such as sheltered or care. There are many institutions such as the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution which is responsible for Masonic care homes and Royal Masonic Charities for Girls and Boys to assist in the education of children. Given the type of people who join freemasonry its is not surprising that the organisation is naturally supportive of its members and to society in general.
