Lodge of Fidelity 445 The Lodge of Fidelity No. 445 was consecrated (as No.652) on 28th August 1837. Lodge meetings were held in the Talbot Inn Towcester until 1861 when the Lodge moved to the Pomfret Arms Hotel Towcester. In 1914 the Lodge moved to Towcester Town Hall until the outbreak of the Second World War when a short return to the Pomfret Arms for one year was followed by a move to the Oddfellows’ Hall where the Lodge stayed until 1947. For eight years, until 1954, Lodge meetings were held at the Conservative Club and it was during that time that Brethren began to think about building their own Masonic Hall. In 1954 a plot of land to the rear of the Conservative Club was leased to the Lodge by Bro. Lord Hesketh at an annual cost of ten shillings and in the same year the Masonic Hall was built at a cost of £2,850. £1,000 had been raised by the Brethren and the balance was raised with a loan from a bank. In 1992 land adjacent to the Masonic Hall was purchased and at the same time drawings where prepared for a new double storey Hall complete with Dining Room and Car Parking facilities. In January 2000 the freehold of the site was purchased from Lord Hesketh. Whilst the Car Park was constructed the Hall has, as yet, not been progressed. Freemasonry in Towcester steadily grew following the completion of the original Hall. The Graftonian Lodge of Mark Master Masons No, 1243 was consecrated in 1960, the Chapter of Fidelity No, 445 in 1963, Lactodorum Lodge No, 8526 in 1973 and The Towcestrian Lodge No, 9510 in 1993
